Job Summary
The Laboratory Engineer/Technician is responsible for supporting laboratory operations, conducting tests and experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role plays a critical part in product development, process validation, failure analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Perform laboratory testing, measurements, and evaluations according to approved procedures and specifications.
- Prepare test samples, materials, and equipment for testing activities.
- Execute experiments and collect accurate test data.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.
Equipment Management
- Operate laboratory instruments and test equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate equipment repair and preventive maintenance activities with vendors and internal teams.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance records.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze test results and identify trends, abnormalities, or failures.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations of test findings.
- Document test procedures, observations, and results accurately.
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective action activities.
Engineering Support (for Engineer level)
- Develop and optimize laboratory test methods and procedures.
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate product performance and reliability.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), qualification, and validation activities.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Engineering teams.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Follow ISO, IEC, ASTM, JEDEC, or other applicable standards.
- Participate in laboratory audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support implementation of quality management systems.
Requirements
Education
Laboratory Technician
- Diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
Laboratory Engineer
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
Technician
- 0–3 years of laboratory, testing, or manufacturing experience.
Engineer
- 2–5 years of laboratory, reliability, validation, or engineering experience preferred.
Technical Skills
- Experience with laboratory instruments and measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of test methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or relevant quality systems.
- Experience with data acquisition and automated test systems.
