Role Description The Telephone Operator is a full-time, on-site role based at Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This role is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing calls through the hotel switchboard, including guest inquiries, internal calls, and external contacts, while ensuring prompt, courteous, and accurate communication at all times. The Telephone Operator assists guests by providing information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions, and coordinates communication with other departments to respond to requests efficiently. Daily tasks include logging and following up on guest requests, routing calls to the appropriate team members, managing wake-up call requests, and supporting emergency communication procedures as needed. The role requires maintaining a calm, professional demeanor, protecting guest privacy, and reflecting the Park Hyatt service standards in every interaction.
Qualifications
- Strong phone handling abilities, including professional Phone Etiquette and experience as a Switchboard Operator or working with a Switchboard system.
- Background in guest- or customer-facing roles, with proven Customer Support skills and a focus on service excellence.
- Clear and confident Communication skills, with the ability to converse effectively in English; proficiency in additional languages (such as Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin) is an advantage.
- Previous experience in hospitality, front office, or call center environments, preferably in luxury hotels or service-focused organizations.
- Ability to stay composed under pressure, manage multiple calls and requests simultaneously, and prioritize tasks with attention to detail.
- Comfort with basic computer systems and hotel communication software; willingness to learn new tools and procedures.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as part of a 24/7 hospitality operation.
- High level of integrity, respect for confidentiality, and commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for colleagues and guests.
