Position Overview
We are hiring experienced Mandarin-English medical interpreters for full-time, remote positions. This role centers on providing over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) in clinical settings such as primary care, emergency services, and mental health consultations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, neutral interpretation between Mandarin-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare staff
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times
• Interpret medical terminology and procedures with precision and clarity
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and the Interpreter Code of Ethics
• Manage a variety of medical scenarios with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
• Remain available during scheduled shifts and attend required coaching sessions or QA reviews

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical interpretation (OPI or VRI preferred)
• Excellent understanding of medical vocabulary and interpreter protocols
• High school diploma or equivalent required (advanced education preferred)
• Strong memory, listening, and note-taking skills
• Comfortable working across multiple platforms and call types
• Must pass a language proficiency assessment and a background check

Remote Work Requirements
To ensure compliance and call quality, candidates must have:

• A wired Ethernet internet connection (Wi-Fi not allowed)
• Internet speed: minimum 10 Mbps download/upload
• A computer or laptop with:
• Windows 10 or newer / macOS 10.13 or newer
• Minimum Intel i3 processor (i5 or i7 recommended)
• Minimum 4 GB RAM (8 GB preferred)
• Wired USB noise-cancelling headset
• Quiet, private home office environment
• Completion of a technical check with our IT support team
