About the Role

REAL Schools Johor Bahru Campus is looking to appoint a responsible and hands-on Maintenance Executive to support the effective maintenance, safety and day-to-day operation of the campus.

Reporting to the Head of Administration & Operations, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate the maintenance team, ensure that the school’s buildings, facilities, equipment and property remain in good working condition, and respond promptly to maintenance requests from campus users.

The role will also support preventive maintenance, health and safety compliance, fire life safety, campus events, school property management and the upkeep of the school hostel.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating the maintenance team to deliver timely and effective maintenance support across the school campus.

  • Conducting scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections of school buildings, facilities, mechanical equipment and other campus assets.

  • Performing minor building repairs and supporting major repair works under the supervision of appropriately licensed maintenance professionals.

  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing air-conditioning systems, furniture, tiles, windows, doors, locks, door closers, blinds and other building fixtures.

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing fixtures and equipment in classrooms, laboratories, restrooms, offices and other school facilities.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing minor plumbing and electrical issues, including replacing bulbs, switches, electrical accessories, locks and control components.

  • Responding promptly to emergency maintenance requests and supporting renovation, remodelling, plastering, drywall repair and painting works when required.

  • Completing daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checklists and maintaining accurate records of inspections, repairs and scheduled maintenance activities.

  • Preparing and submitting weekly maintenance reports while ensuring that all work is documented in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures and applicable ISO procedures.

  • Monitoring the Security Guard Tour System and conducting regular campus inspections to identify security, fencing, facility and property concerns.

  • Maintaining accurate records and effective control of school property, facilities, equipment and inventory.

  • Overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of the school hostel to ensure that it remains safe, functional and in good condition.

  • Providing logistical and facilities support for school activities, excursions and events, including Open Days, Sports Days and Parent-Teacher Conferences.

  • Coordinating approved community use of the school site and ensuring that facilities are used safely and responsibly.

  • Supporting campus risk assessments and ensuring compliance with applicable occupational safety and health requirements.

  • Ensuring that the school fulfils its fire life safety requirements, leading the fire life safety team and coordinating relevant training and preparedness activities.

  • Performing other appropriate duties assigned by the Head of Administration & Operations.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or an equivalent qualification.

  • More than one year of relevant working experience in building, facilities or general maintenance.

  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, plumbing and construction-related maintenance.

  • Practical troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities.

  • Good and clear communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and other campus stakeholders.

  • Good time-management skills and the ability to respond effectively to both scheduled and urgent maintenance requirements.

  • An organised, structured and systematic approach to work, record-keeping and preventive maintenance.

  • A positive and hardworking attitude, with a strong sense of discipline, responsibility and punctuality.

  • The ability to cooperate with others and contribute positively as a team member.

  • A willingness to learn and continuously improve their technical knowledge and working practices.
