Assistant Project Manager – Greenfield Data Center Project

Location: Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

Client: Leading American Project Management Consultancy (PMC) supporting a global hyperscale data center project

About the Role

NES Fircroft is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of a major greenfield data center project in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan. Embedded within a leading American Project Management Consultancy (PMC), you will work closely with the Project Manager and client team to coordinate project activities throughout the full project lifecycle.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience delivering complex building or industrial projects who are looking to gain exposure to the fast-growing data center sector. While prior data center experience is not essential, it is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in coordinating project activities from design, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning through to project handover.
• Assist in monitoring project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and project deliverables.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and client representatives to ensure timely execution of project activities.
• Review and track progress of CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) works.
• Attend site meetings, inspections, and progress reviews, ensuring action items are followed up and closed out.
• Assist in identifying project risks, issues, and delays, and support the implementation of mitigation plans.
• Review contractor submissions, technical documentation, method statements, and project reports.
• Support change management processes, document control, and project reporting.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and final project close-out activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• 3–8 years of experience in construction project management, engineering, or site coordination.
• Good understanding of both CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) systems.
• Knowledge of the end-to-end construction project lifecycle, from design through commissioning and handover.
• Experience working with consultants, contractors, developers, PMCs, or client-side project teams.
• Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with project management tools and reporting processes.
• Willingness to be site-based in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan.
