Responsibilities
We're partnering with one of the world's leading quantitative trading firms to hire a Lead Database Engineer.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of business-critical database infrastructure supporting a global, technology-driven trading environment. You'll play a key role in shaping the firm's database strategy, working alongside engineering, infrastructure and quantitative research teams to design and deliver scalable, high-performance database solutions.
The role will involve:
- Leading the design, administration and optimisation of large-scale database platforms
- Driving high availability, disaster recovery and database security initiatives
- Working closely with stakeholders across engineering and the business to deliver robust database solutions
- Capacity planning, performance tuning and database architecture
- Supporting data warehouse and cloud database initiatives
- Mentoring engineers and promoting database best practices across the team
- Contributing to automation using Python, PowerShell, Shell or Ansible
We're looking for engineers with:
- Significant experience administering production database environments
- Strong expertise across modern database technologies such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, SQL Server or PostgreSQL
- Deep knowledge of database performance tuning, monitoring, security and disaster recovery
- Experience designing highly available, scalable database platforms
- Strong SQL and database programming experience
- Linux/UNIX administration experience
- Must be strong in Python
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
