Job description:
To ensure smooth operation of precast production by maintaining all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automated equipment such as gantry cranes, carousel systems, batching plants, air compressors, mould vibration tables, transfer cars, and cutting machines. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving machine reliability, and supporting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on precast machinery:
o Gantry & Overhead Cranes
o Batching & Mixing Systems
o Carousel Production Line
o Vibrating Tables
o Transfer Cars / Turning Tables
o Steel Bar Cutting & Bending Machines
o Air Compressors & Vacuum Lifting Systems
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical breakdowns immediately to reduce production stoppage.
- Conduct alignment, lubrication, and part replacement.
2. Production Support
- Work closely with production supervisors to plan maintenance without affecting casting schedules.
- Attend to emergency breakdowns during casting or demoulding operations.
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Follow PM schedule for cranes (limit switches, brakes, hoist motors), batching plant calibration, compressor servicing, and lubrication cycles.
- Record abnormalities through predictive indicators such as vibration, noise, and temperature.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Follow ISO, OSHA, and plant HSE requirements.
- Ensure machinery is safe to operate (e.g., brake function test, limit switch operation, e-stop functionality).
- Enforce Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) during maintenance work.
- Report and rectify hazards such as exposed cables, oil leaks, or faulty sensors.
5. Documentation
- Submit daily reports on machine conditions and spare part requirements.
- Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for repetitive breakdowns.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvement projects to reduce downtime or energy usage.
- Support machine modification/upgrades for efficiency and safety.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance.
- Experience in precast, construction, or heavy manufacturing is an advantage.
- Fresh graduates considered for junior roles.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, PLCs, hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.
- Skilled in troubleshooting crane systems and batching plant systems.
Soft Skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and urgency.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Good communication and coordination with production teams.
Working Conditions
- Industrial environment (dust, noise, heavy machinery).
- Standby or shift duty may be required.
- Must be available for urgent breakdown calls.
