Job Summary
Procurement engineers manage the purchase of technical equipment for industrial projects. They collaborate with designers and site teams to identify equipment needs, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery to support manufacturing or construction operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with designers and site teams to identify and specify equipment requirements for manufacturing or construction projects
- Research and evaluate vendors to source technical equipment that meets project specifications
- Negotiate purchase agreements and award contracts to vendors for engineering equipment
- Monitor and adjust equipment supply to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Maintain organized records to ensure a consistent flow of equipment to worksites
- Ensure vendors comply with contract terms and performance expectations
- Apply influencing and negotiation skills to secure favorable procurement outcomes
- Draft procurement plans to guide purchasing activities and project needs
- Attend scheduled meetings, including Saturday meetings, to coordinate procurement activities
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 2 years of procurement experience in the construction sector
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Ability to read CAD drawings is a plus
