Rate: $26/hour

Position Overview

The Intake Worker for the Family Service Centre (FSC) will manage assigned intake caseload and conduct intake sessions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Enquiry & Intake

1.1.  Maintain an intake load of 5 active intake case per week (assuming one intake session is required to close each intake case).

1.2.  Manage enquiries from walk-in clients, conduct initial assessments, and direct them to either intake or referral to partner agencies.

1.3.  Conduct intake sessions, identify and assess client needs using the intake assessment framework, and either promote to case or close at intake within the SOP timeline.

1.4.  Provide appropriate information and referral services to individuals seeking assistance from our Centre.

1.5.  Demonstrate a good understanding of the resources available in the community and referral processes to partner agencies (e.g., transitional shelters).

1.6.  Demonstrate good knowledge of casework management SOP (intake flowchart and timelines).

1.7.  Complete documentation on internal intake log and SSNet and consult immediately at points of crisis.

1.8.  Be stationed in office or doing work pertaining to intake (e.g., Home Visits) during duty hours.

2.    Other Duties

2.1.  Engage with supervisor via Microsoft Teams or F2F once a month.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

1.       Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Work.

2.       Accredited or registered as a Social Worker under SASW (preferred).

3.       Experience in the social services or public services sector (preferred).

Capabilities

1.       Strong counselling and case management skills.

2.       Ability to support families, couples, and individuals in crisis.

3.       Good assessment and intervention planning skills.

4.       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

5.       Experience in group work and facilitation.

6.       Ability to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.

7.       Good case documentation skills.

Work Schedule

We understand the need for work-life harmony. This role offers rostered shifts in blocks of 4 hours, allowing you to flexibly manage your work and personal commitments, provided you meet key deliverables and outcomes.

Work Day - Shifts (4-hour shifts)

Monday, Wednesday & Friday

  1. 9:00am – 1:00pm
  2. 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Tuesday & Thursday

  1. 9:00am – 1:00pm
  2. 1:00pm – 5:00pm
  3. 5:00pm – 9:00pm
