About the role

Forum Hotel is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team in George Town, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of our hotel infrastructure and guest experience. As Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, comfort, and overall quality of our hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

1. Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hotel systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment

2. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently

3. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, common areas, and facility infrastructure to identify potential problems before they escalate

4. Execute repairs and replacements of fixtures, appliances, and equipment throughout the hotel

5. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation of all work completed

6. Collaborate with external contractors and service providers when specialist repairs are required

7. Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and hotel standards

8. Test and maintain emergency systems, including fire safety equipment and backup generators

9. Support housekeeping and front-of-house teams to resolve facility-related issues promptly

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, handyperson, or in a similar maintenance role within the hospitality industry or related field

2. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance

3. Competency in using and maintaining hand and power tools safely and effectively

4. Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals

5. Valid certification or qualifications in relevant trades (electrical, plumbing, or mechanical) is highly desirable

6. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions

7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship

8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment

9. Good communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset

10. Physical fitness and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks

11. Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
