Purnama Solution (M) Sdn Bhd is an engineering and infrastructure company involved in telecom, fibre optic, data centre, utility and construction-related project works.

We are looking for a Field Engineer – Data Centre Structured Cabling to support our data centre project works. The candidate will be involved in site coordination, structured cabling, fibre optic works, cable pulling, cable dressing, patching, termination, testing, documentation and daily reporting.

The role is suitable for candidates with experience in data centre, telecom, fibre optic, structured cabling, ELV, M&E or construction site environments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support data centre structured cabling and fibre optic installation works.

- Coordinate daily site activities with the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, Safety personnel and client representatives.

- Monitor fibre cable pulling, routing, dressing, labelling, patching, splicing, termination and testing works.

- Ensure works are carried out according to project requirements, drawings, method statements and safety requirements.

- Check daily manpower, work progress, site issues, material requirements and tools/equipment readiness.

- Prepare daily site updates with photos, progress status, issues, manpower details and pending matters.

- Assist in preparing site documentation, inspection records, test records, redline drawings and handover documents.

- Coordinate with subcontractors, workers and site teams to ensure proper work execution.

- Monitor quality of workmanship, cable management, labelling, routing and cleanliness at site.

- Support testing activities such as OTDR, light source/power meter, fibre testing and structured cabling testing where required.

- Assist in troubleshooting site issues and escalating urgent matters to the Project Manager.

- Ensure workers comply with data centre site rules, PPE requirements, safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.

- Attend site briefings, toolbox meetings, coordination meetings and progress discussions when required.

- Work on day or night shift depending on project requirements.

Requirements:

- Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, IT, Engineering or related field.

- Candidates with strong site experience in fibre optic / structured cabling may also be considered.

- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in data centre, telecom, fibre optic, structured cabling, ELV, M&E or construction site works.

- Experience in data centre environment will be an added advantage.

- Familiar with fibre optic cable pulling, patching, splicing, testing, cable dressing and labelling.

- Basic understanding of structured cabling, containment, cable tray, rack, patch panel and fibre route management.

- Able to read basic drawings, site layout, cable route drawings or work instructions.

- Able to prepare simple daily reports using WhatsApp, Excel, Google Sheets or project reporting format.

- Must be responsible, punctual, hands-on and able to work under pressure.

- Must be willing to work at project site and follow day/night shift requirements when required.

- Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

- Own transport is preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

We prefer candidates who have worked in data centre, telecom contractor, fibre optic contractor, structured cabling contractor, ELV contractor, M&E contractor or construction project site environments.

The candidate must be hands-on, site-oriented and able to update management clearly on daily progress, manpower, issues, materials and work status.
