Role Description The Mechanical Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Labuan, Malaysia. The Mechanical Technician will perform routine and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment used in shipyard operations, including pumps, engines, hydraulic systems, and related components. Daily tasks include inspecting equipment, identifying mechanical issues, troubleshooting faults, and carrying out repairs to minimize downtime. The role involves implementing preventive maintenance schedules, keeping accurate maintenance records, and following safety procedures and regulatory standards. The Mechanical Technician will collaborate with other technical staff, support project work on vessels and yard machinery, and assist with commissioning and testing of repaired or newly installed equipment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and general Maintenance for mechanical systems in an industrial or marine environment.
• Candidates should possess skills in Preventive Maintenance, including scheduling, inspection, and documentation of mechanical service activities.
• Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting and Maintenance & Repair to diagnose issues and perform effective corrective actions on mechanical equipment.
• Relevant technical certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial machinery is an advantage.
• Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals, and use common mechanical tools and measuring instruments safely.
• Strong awareness of workplace safety practices and ability to follow shipyard safety regulations and procedures.
• Effective communication skills, ability to work in teams, and willingness to work in an outdoor, industrial environment as required.
