About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Executive to join our fintech team at Nimbura Sdn. Bhd. in our Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur office.

This full-time position plays a key role in supporting the Company's financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial reports, managing payroll and statutory compliance, performing reconciliations, and ensuring proper accounting treatment of all transactions.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, auditors, tax agents, and external service providers to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls while supporting the Company's growth and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other adjusting entries.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment and classification of all transactions.

2. Month-End & Year-End Closing

  • Assist in the preparation and completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Prepare and maintain month-end accruals and provisions, including payroll accruals, bonus provisions, annual leave (vacation) reserves, and other employee-related liabilities.
  • Calculate, review, and reconcile annual leave provisions and employee benefit reserves.
  • Prepare month-end journals for accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, provisions, depreciation, and other adjustments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure all accrued liabilities, reserves, and supporting schedules are properly documented and maintained.

3. Payroll & Statutory Compliance

  • Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related accounts and employee benefit liabilities.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions and contributions, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, and other applicable requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission and payment of all statutory obligations.
  • Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.

4. Loan & Revenue Accounting

  • Record and reconcile loan disbursements, repayments, settlements, and loan balances.
  • Prepare and maintain loan schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Accurately account for interest income, extension fees, late payment charges, and other revenue streams.
  • Prepare interest accrual calculations and related accounting entries.
  • Support reconciliation of customer balances and loan portfolios.

5. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices, payments, staff claims, and reimbursements.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue balances.
  • Perform vendor and customer account reconciliations.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is complete and properly maintained.

6. Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile loan accounts, payroll accounts, statutory accounts, and other balance sheet items.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly.

7. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
  • Prepare schedules, reports, and analysis required by management.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis exercises.
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial planning activities.

8. Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Assist with internal and external audit exercises.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Support tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining effective financial controls.

9. Process Improvement & Internal Controls

  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
  • Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Support finance-related projects and system improvements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accrual accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, payroll accruals, annual leave (vacation) reserves, bonus provisions, and employee benefit liabilities.
  • Experience with loan accounting, interest accruals, and revenue recognition is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian statutory requirements, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and PCB.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fintech, lending, financial services, or regulated industries.
  • Experience with accounting systems, payroll systems, and financial reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with audit processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Professional accounting qualification or progress towards one (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent).
