Quantity Surveyor (QS) manages the financial and contractual aspects of specialized Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) projects, particularly those involving HVAC and Automatic Tube Cleaning Systems (ATCS).
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management: Prepare detailed project cost estimates, budgets, and cost-control reports for specialized HVAC and tube cleaning systems.
- Tendering & Procurement: Manage pre-contract activities, including taking off quantities, preparing Bills of Quantities (BQ), and evaluating subcontractor tenders.
- Contract Administration: Handle progress claims, variation orders (VOs), and final accounts to ensure projects remain within budget and meet legal requirements.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with clients, site engineers, and subcontractors to resolve contractual issues and verify onsite work progress.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material costs, contracts, and payment certificates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related construction management field.
- Experience: Typically requires 1–3 years of experience in M&E or HVAC projects. Senior roles may require 5+ years.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with local forms of contract (e.g., PSSCOC, SIA, or PAM).
- Specialized knowledge of ACMV/HVAC systems is often a preferred advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure.
