Junior Rail Engineer will be responsible for supporting the implementation and delivery of rail projects, providing technical expertise, and assisting in ensuring successful engineering outcomes. This role requires a solid understanding of rail systems, good project coordination skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of rail engineering projects.
- Provide technical input and assist senior engineers and project teams.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to meet project requirements.
- Monitor project progress, timelines, and budgets, and report updates.
- Identify engineering issues and assist in developing practical solutions.
- Stay updated with advancements in rail technology and industry practices.
- Assist in overseeing projects related to Rolling Stock, Government DE projects, RAC initiatives, and other assigned works.
- Support monitoring of MRO works, attend meetings with contractors, and assist in issue resolution and verification processes.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation as requested by VP Rail or COO Rail.
- Review and support evaluation of daily and monthly reports prepared by RAC staff.
- Assist in supervising Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Technicians where required.
- Support contract management implementation when assigned.
- Participate in site inspections for Rail Unit projects.
- Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, tests, and inspections, and prepare minutes when necessary.
- Undertake other rail-related tasks as assigned by VP Rail or COO Rail.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Railway System, Rolling Stock, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in rail engineering or a related field.
- Experience in KTMB Project is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of rail systems, infrastructure, and industry standards.
- Experience supporting engineering projects is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
