Role Summary

Responsible for the setup, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, which includes Linux, Windows, and UNIX systems, middleware platforms (such as IBM WebSphere), and backup solutions (e.g., Tivoli Storage Manager). The role involves both day-to-day operations and strategic planning to support continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage, middleware, and backup systems.
• Monitor and ensure system health, performance, and backups.
• Manage incidents, troubleshoot issues, and provide 24/7 support.
• Apply patches and updates to OS and middleware.
• Maintain documentation and automate administrative tasks using scripting.
• Support application deployments and system upgrades.
• Coordinate disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Research and recommend system enhancements and automation strategies.

Technical Environment

• OS: Linux (RHEL), Windows, AIX, Solaris
• Middleware: WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ, IBM IIB, MessageSight
• Backup: Tivoli Storage Manager
• Storage: IBM SAN (V7000/V9000)
• Virtualization/Hypervisors: VMware, Red Hat Virtualization
• Other Tools: Cognos, Solace, RabbitMQ, HACMP, VIOS, Samba

Cloud & Automation Skills

• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
• Automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell
• Cloud security best practices and resource management
• Monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor
• Cost management and cloud scalability strategies

Preferred Qualities

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Experience in vendor and incident management
• Proactive in performance tuning and capacity planning
