The role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to prepare structural calculations, review design drawings, and support submission processes for various façade and cladding systems projects.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparation of structural calculations to standards acceptable by Buildings Department (BD) or Independent Checking Consultants (ICC) appointed by end clients or main contractors.

• Attend BD or ICC interviews to reply comments on structural calculations and to prepare calculations for responding to BD or ICC during or after the meetings.

• Prepare hand-mark sketches & details independently for the following purposes:

  • Hand markup of neat details directly on BD submission drawings.
  • Hand markup of sketches for passing on to CAD team for drafting.
  • Hand sketches to supplement structural calculations.

• Handle ad hoc tasks as required.

Requirement:

• Degree in Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Façade Engineering or any related discipline.

• 5 years or above experience in façade specific experience. Candidates with more than 7 years of experience may be considered for Senior Structural Engineer .

• Well versed in design / engineering and structural calculations with familiarity in various façade systems, especially unitized / stick curtain wall systems, metal cladding systems, glass wall systems and point-fixing systems.

• Familiar with Hong Kong and international façade / structural design codes for structural steel, stainless steel, glass, aluminium and similar materials.

• Hands on experience in using any one of the analysis software such as Strand7, OASYS GSA, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SPACE GASS, etc.

• Experience to prepare calculations in Mathcad and to edit existing calculations in Mathcad is preferred, but not essential.

• Experience to prepare typical drawings and details in AutoCAD for passing on to CAD team is preferred, but not essential

• Fluent in spoken Cantonese and English.

• Good communication skill, self-motivated and proactive with strong sense of responsibility.
