Job Summary / Purpose:
Project Engineer as part of the engineering team in the PMO Department, is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects within set deadlines and budgets. This role plays a critical part in accomplishing successful and smooth execution of projects, ensuring customers and internal stakeholders satisfaction, covering all aspects including engineering, quality, schedule, cost and profit.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Project Planning and Coordination
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with multiple departments.
- Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Organize and conduct project kick-off meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Ensure Bill of Material (BOM) are created completely according to specifications.
- Ensure Material Planning and Purchasing are executed according to project requirements.
Project Scheduling
- Define Activities - Identify the specific work tasks required to complete project deliverables, often broken down via a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Sequence Activities - Determine the logical order and dependencies between tasks (e.g., finish-to-start, start-to-start).
- Estimate Durations - Estimate the time required for each activity, accounting for resource availability and potential constraints.
- Develop Schedule - Use tools like Gantt charts or network diagrams to create a visual timeline.
- Identify Critical Path - Determine the longest sequence of dependent tasks, which dictates the shortest possible project duration.
- Assign Resources - Allocate human resources and equipment to tasks based on availability and skill sets.
- Set Milestones - Define key points in the project to mark significant progress or phase completion.
- Monitor and Update - Regularly track progress against the baseline, adjusting for delays or scope changes.
Stakeholder Management
- Lead and motivate project teams, assigning tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, facilitating clear communication.
- Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure project objectives are met.
- Monitor project progress, adjusting plans as necessary to stay on track.
Risk Management and Problem Resolution
- Proactively identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Address and resolve internal and external project-related issues promptly.
- Implement project change management processes in response to scope or schedule changes.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to product quality procedures and standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project expenses to ensure completion within budget constraints.
- Prepare and deliver regular project status reports to stakeholders.
Production and Process Oversight
- Oversee machine and module assembly processes, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with production staff to address any issues or adjustments.
- Collaborate with departments to identify and implement continuous improvement strategies
Academic and Trades Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field is the minimum requirement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics is preferred.
- Master degree or higher are preferred.
Work Experience and Skills:
- Practical project management experience preferred.
- Basic computer and MS Office knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and service manuals will be advantageous.
Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
