Role Summary
The Security Systems Specialist maintains and administers enterprise security systems including access control, video surveillance, visitor management, and associated databases. This role provides hands-on global support, coordinates vendors for repairs and installations, and delivers first-line troubleshooting and customer support to employees and security stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1) Systems Administration & Operations
- Maintain and administer Access Control, CCTV, and Visitor Management platforms, including servers, workstations, client software, and field devices
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot controllers, panels, boards, card readers, cameras, encoders, recorders, and operator workstations
- Monitor system health (cameras, readers, NVRs), investigate alerts, and drive timely remediation
- Create, update, and audit access levels, schedules, door groups, and hardware associations
- Support certificate management, software updates, firmware upgrades, backups, and restores
- Maintain system documentation including diagrams, SOPs, checklists, and change records
2) Customer & Stakeholder Support
- Provide Level 1 troubleshooting and customer support for ticketed requests from the Security team and an employee population of approximately 19,000 users
- Deliver desktop and hardware support for Global Badging, HQ GSOC, and U.S. lobby and reception teams
- Assist Badging with ACS areas, contact sheets, and area owner lists
- Train operators and reception staff on daily tasks, best practices, and basic troubleshooting
3) Projects & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate vendors for corrective repairs, preventive maintenance, new installations including testing and commissioning, and site projects
- Attend project meetings, propose security recommendations, capture technical action items, and close tasks on schedule
- Stage, configure, and quality-check new devices and servers prior to deployment
- Manage spares, warranties, and asset records to ensure inventory accuracy and readiness
4) Security Governance & Reliability
- Follow change, incident, and request workflows with clear communication and timely updates
- Perform routine system health checks, retention reviews, and storage capacity monitoring
- Assist with access reviews, audits, and evidence requests from Security, HR, Legal, and Compliance
- Protect privacy and sensitive data when handling video and access records
- Contribute to after-action reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise access control and video systems in a corporate or campus environment
- Hands-on knowledge of controllers, panels, boards, card readers, cameras, NVRs, PoE switching, VLAN fundamentals, and Windows clients
- Experience using ticketing systems with clear, professional written customer updates
- Strong customer service mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation and adjust hours as needed to support global sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Lenel OnGuard, Mercury-based controllers, and reader technologies such as OSDP and HID
- Experience with Genetec and/or ExacqVision, including system health monitoring and video retention concepts
- Basic SQL for reporting and troubleshooting; basic PowerShell for administrative tasks
- Understanding of certificates, TLS, and Windows Server patching and backup processes
- Experience coordinating vendors for repairs and small-scale projects
- Exposure to GDPR and privacy-by-design principles for video and access data
- Experience working with ServiceNow or similar ticketing and change-management platforms
