Job role: Junior Business Intelligence Developer

Department: Operations, Howden Singapore

A LEADING GLOBAL INDEPENDENT BROKER

Howden is a specialist commercial insurance broker. Its regional footprint covers Singapore (regional headquarters), Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines. It is part of the London-headquartered Howden Broking Group, a leading independent, global broker with offices in over 55 countries worldwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

1. Reporting & Dashboard Support

• Assist in building Power BI dashboards and reports
• Update and maintain existing reports
• Support simple workflow automation and process improvement solutions using approved tools such as Power Automate, VBA, and Python
• Ensure data is presented clearly and accurately

2. Data Preparation

• Use SQL and Excel to extract and prepare data
• Clean and organise data for reporting purposes
• Validate data to ensure accuracy

3. Data & Report Maintenance

• Monitor report refreshes and fix basic issues
• Support troubleshooting of data discrepancies
• Make updates based on user feedback

4. Business Support

• Respond to simple reporting and automation requests
• Work with team members to understand data and process improvement needs
• Support ad hoc data queries
• Assist in identifying repetitive manual tasks that can be streamlined through automation

5. Local Data Champion

• Act as a data change catalyst within the business, promoting best practices, accountability, and a culture of data quality.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues at source, ensuring improvements are embedded in business-as-usual processes.
• Support technology and process change initiatives by assessing and communicating data impacts.
• Drive awareness of the strategic importance of data in achieving growth, compliance, and client outcomes.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Basic knowledge of SQL (SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY)
• Familiarity with Excel (formulas, pivot tables)
• Exposure to Power BI / Tableau (academic or internship experience is fine)
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic understanding of tools such as Power Automate, VBA, and Python, including simple workflow creation, task automation, and basic scripting
• Internship or school projects involving data

KEY ATTRIBUTES

• Curious and willing to learn
• Detail-oriented with strong accuracy
• Comfortable working with numbers
• Good time management and reliability

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree/Diploma in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Science, IT, or related field
• Fresh graduates welcome (internship experience preferred but not required)
