Job Summary

The Electrical Control Technician will assist engineers in the repair, maintenance, inspection, modification and upgrading of electrical control systems for cranes and machinery used in shipyard environments.

This is an entry-level technical role suitable for candidates who are interested in developing practical experience in electrical control systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in repairing electrical control systems for cranes and machinery in shipyards.
• Assist engineers in carrying out maintenance work on electrical control systems to ensure operational reliability.
• Assist engineers in inspecting electrical control devices and components to identify faults or operational issues.
• Assist engineers in carrying out modification and upgrading work on electrical control systems to improve performance.
• Follow applicable workplace and shipyard safety procedures and use the required personal protective equipment.

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications

• NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and control systems suitable for an entry-level technician role.
• Able to identify common control devices, including drives, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), encoders, relays, contactors and circuit breakers.
• Basic understanding of the functions and control logic of common electrical control devices.
• The role involves working at height and in shipyard environments involving noise, heat and dirt.
• Able to perform the required work safely, use suitable personal protective equipment and comply with applicable workplace and shipyard safety requirements.
• Responsible, safety-conscious and willing to learn.
• Fresh graduates from ITE or Polytechnic, as well as candidates with relevant work experience, are welcome to apply.
