About CourtIQ

CourtIQ is building the AI layer for amateur sports.

Every week, millions of players record matches but receive little meaningful analysis from that footage.

We're changing that through computer vision, sports analytics and AI-powered performance insights.

We've validated demand with players across Malaysia and Singapore, secured strategic sports partners, and are backed by Cradle Fund and WatchTower and Friends as we build the technology foundation to scale.

We're looking for a Founding AI & Computer Vision Engineer to help build that future.

The Role

This is not a maintenance role.

This is a high-ownership builder role.

You'll work directly with the founders to design, train and deploy the computer vision systems powering CourtIQ's core products. From player tracking and event detection to future analytics and performance insights, you'll play a key role in shaping the company's technical direction.

You'll be expected to move quickly, make pragmatic technical decisions, and build systems that work in real-world conditions.

What You'll Work On

• Building computer vision systems for player detection, tracking and re-identification from challenging amateur sports footage.
• Developing event understanding models that identify game actions and attribute them to individual players.
• Designing end-to-end ML pipelines for annotation, training, evaluation and continuous improvement of our models.
• Solving difficult problems in camera movement, occlusion, player identity persistence and noisy real-world video conditions.
• Optimising inference pipelines to process large volumes of video efficiently and cost-effectively in production.
• Building analytics systems that transform raw video into heatmaps, movement data and actionable performance insights.
• Architecting the AI infrastructure and production systems that power CourtIQ's products.
• Turning messy, unstructured sports footage into reliable, user-facing products that help athletes improve.

What We're Looking For

• Strong Python skills and experience building production-quality software.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and modern computer vision frameworks.
• Experience building, training or deploying computer vision systems in research, industry or personal projects.
• Familiarity with areas such as object detection, tracking, pose estimation, re-identification, video understanding or related domains.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deploying ML systems (GCP, AWS or Azure).
• Strong problem-solving ability and sound engineering judgement.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and tackling problems that don't yet have well-defined answers.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and drive projects from idea to production.
• A bias towards execution and a desire to build products that users genuinely love.

Preferred Background

We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds.

A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision or related fields is a plus.

However, we care more about demonstrated capability than formal qualifications.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6 months, you'll help build and improve the core AI systems powering CourtIQ's player analytics platform and directly influence the future direction of the company.

As one of the earliest technical hires, you'll have the opportunity to grow into a senior technical leadership role as the company scales.
