Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager
We are looking for a highly motivated Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager to join a team of quantum communications pioneers at our office in Singapore. We are commercialising quantum communications to prepare the world for the quantum future. As part of our mission to transform the world's networks, we are delivering ground-based quantum key distribution (QKD) systems for government and commercial partners.
In this role, you will work closely with our senior product lead — who owns customer requirements and the technical direction of the product — to translate that vision into actionable engineering plans and ensure the team delivers on time and to specification. You will be the bridge between the product lead, the engineering teams, and external stakeholders, keeping things moving, unblocking issues, and ensuring clear communication at every level. This is not a technical lead role — but you will need enough technical depth to understand the product, speak credibly with engineers and government officers, and know when something is off track.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline (electronics, optics, or communications preferred) with a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in technical project management, Scrum mastery, or engineering programme delivery.
- Exceptional academic achievements and/or demonstrated passion for technology through extra-curricular activities.
- Curiosity about working on the forefront of deep tech development.
Responsibilities
- Work with the product lead to plan, prioritise, and track engineering delivery across multiple workstreams.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, reviews) and continuously improve team processes.
- Manage engineering timelines, dependencies, and risks — escalating early and clearly when needed.
- Act as a key interface with government programme officers and other external stakeholders, representing SpeQtral professionally and credibly.
- Drive clear, consistent communication between the product lead, engineering teams, and wider organisation.
- Remove blockers for engineers and keep the team focused on delivery.
- Support preparation of project documentation, status reports, and milestone reviews.
- Contribute to proposals and bids as needed (commercial and research).
- Other related functions as assigned.
Skills – must have
- Demonstrated experience running Agile/Scrum processes in a hardware or systems engineering environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to work effectively with demanding, fast-paced technical leads and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
- Comfortable interfacing with government customers and officers in Singapore.
- Able to understand technical products and engineering trade-offs without being the domain expert.
- Highly organised, energetic, and proactive — a can-do attitude with the drive to keep up in a fast-moving team.
- Sharp and quick to learn — picks things up fast and brings momentum to the team.
Bonus skills – experience in any of the following is advantageous:
- Background in optical communications (e.g. fibre-optic systems), electronics, or photonics.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
- Experience delivering R&D hardware or systems projects for government or defence customers.
- Familiarity with quantum communications, QKD, or secure communications.
- Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment.
If you are passionate about Agile project delivery, enjoy working with highly technical engineering teams, and want to play a key role in shaping the future of quantum communications, we would love to hear from you.
