Job Summary
The Operations Technician ensures safe, efficient operation of oil terminal facilities by monitoring equipment, conducting inspections, sampling, and adhering to safety and operational procedures under supervisor guidance.
Responsibilities
- Follow written procedures for terminal and jetty operations to ensure safety and compliance
- Operate firefighting, wastewater, hot oil heating, and utility systems to maintain facility functionality
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the work area to support safe operations
- Assist in troubleshooting operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain system integrity
- Perform system line-ups to prepare equipment and pipelines for operation
- Take and monitor instrument readings such as meters and gauges to track system performance
- Perform tank gauging to measure and verify product levels accurately
- Conduct sampling and quality assurance tests to ensure product and process standards
- Report anomalies, faults, and unexpected readings promptly to the Shift Supervisor for action
- Monitor stationary and running equipment to detect and prevent malfunctions
- Conduct routine area inspections to ensure pollution control and proper facility operation
- Participate in incident investigations to identify causes and recommend corrective actions
- Serve as an active member of the CERT Team to support emergency response efforts
