UX/UI Designer (Research Engineer) — Human-Centered AI for Collaborative Sensemaking

Just-in-Time AI · NUS School of Computing Location: Singapore (Kent Ridge) · Full-time · Contract (renewable) · On-site


About the role

We build interactive, AI-supported systems that help people make sense of complex information together. Our interfaces let interdisciplinary teams explore large bodies of knowledge, connect people and ideas, and build the common ground that good collaboration depends on.

We're looking for a UX/UI Designer (Research Assistant) who can turn hard research questions into clear, usable, beautifully crafted web interfaces — someone excited to work at the intersection of design, data, and human-centered AI.


What you'll do

  • Design interactive interfaces for information exploration, sensemaking, and decision support
  • Craft polished, data-rich analytical views that make complex information legible and actionable
  • Prototype, test, and iterate designs based on user feedback and usability evaluation
  • Work closely with researchers and engineers to translate concepts into working systems
  • Help shape and maintain a reusable design system as the work scales

What we're looking for

  • A strong UX/UI portfolio for web applications or interactive systems — portfolio link required
  • Proficiency with Figma (or an equivalent design tool)
  • A proven ability to translate complex information into clear, adaptive interfaces

Bonus points

  • Background in HCI, visual analytics, or human-centered AI
  • Experience designing data-rich, collaborative, or AI-assisted interfaces
  • Frontend prototyping skills — React or Vue, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, or D3.js
