Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Controller (based in Kuala Lumpur) to lead financial operations across Southeast Asia. This is a high-impact leadership role combining strong financial governance with strategic business partnering to drive performance and shape business outcomes.
About the Role
As the SEA Finance Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity while providing data-driven insights to support decision-making. You will work closely with regional leadership, plant operations, and commercial teams to enhance performance visibility, improve profitability, and strengthen financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Control & Governance
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and discipline
- Ensure integrity of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Deliver high-quality management reporting, including variance analysis
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations
- Identify key risks, performance drivers, and improvement opportunities
Performance Management & Planning
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Monitor performance against targets and support corrective actions
- Improve cost visibility and operational transparency across multiple sites
Business Partnering & Commercial Finance
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to drive revenue growth and margin improvement
- Provide insights on pricing strategies, volume trends, and profitability levers
- Support strategic decision-making with robust financial analysis
- Strengthen governance around commercial decisions
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial stakeholders
- Influence decision-making across functions and geographies
- Support continuous improvement and finance transformation initiatives
Requirements:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting
- Strong expertise in managing P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
- Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments is preferred
- Exposure to multinational, multi-country operations
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Familiarity with ERP and consolidation systems (e.g., QAD, OneStream) is advantageous
