About Our Group
The Sputter Process Engineering team plays a critical role in enabling Seagate’s advanced media technologies, including HAMR and next‑generation storage solutions. We develop, control, and optimize ultra‑high vacuum sputtering processes to fabricate complex thin‑film stacks with nanometer‑scale precision.
Working closely with global R&D, manufacturing, and data science teams, we translate materials science into scalable, high‑volume production, directly impacting media performance, yield, and reliability.
About The Role - You Will
- Develop and optimize sputtering processes to meet film performance, thickness, and material requirements.
- Improve process capability, yield, and throughput through parameter optimization and equipment enhancements.
- Monitor and control film quality and defect performance to ensure consistency in production.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and process scaling.
- Define and maintain process documentation, specifications, and control plans, and provide technical guidance to ensure robust execution.
About You
- Innovative, inclusive, and integrity-driven.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
- Strong team player with a collaborative and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of working independently when required.
- Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
Your Experience Includes
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in sputtering processes, thin film deposition, or vacuum systems.
- Hands‑on experience with sputtering equipment, vacuum systems, or metrology tools.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods for process optimization.
- Understanding of material properties, plasma processes, and thin‑film behavior.
Location:
Our Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations. Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work. Here at work, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at our onsite canteen and coffee shop. We offer a range of facilities including an in-house gym and dance studio, as well as after-work badminton and table tennis competitions. On-site celebrations and community volunteer opportunities also abound.
