The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations within a manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, inventory control, material handling, and dispatch of raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. The role ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and production schedules while leading warehouse personnel to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure timely supply of raw materials, components, and packaging materials to production lines.
- Coordinate the movement of finished goods from production to storage and distribution areas.
- Monitor warehouse space utilization and maintain organized storage locations.
- Ensure proper material handling practices to prevent damage, loss, or contamination.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory transactions are updated in the ERP/WMS system.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and annual stock takes.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor stock levels and collaborate with procurement and planning teams to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out), FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out), or other inventory control methods are followed as applicable.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and develop warehouse staff, including storekeepers, forklift operators, and warehouse assistants.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement within the warehouse team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching as needed.
- Manage attendance, shift schedules, and manpower allocation.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA/local safety requirements and internal safety procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in incident investigations.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S principles.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, GMP, HACCP, or other relevant standards.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
- Implement warehouse KPIs and monitor performance metrics.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in warehouse process optimization and system enhancement projects.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare and submit warehouse operational reports.
- Maintain accurate receiving, dispatch, inventory, and stock adjustment records.
- Monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rate, stock variance, and warehouse productivity.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics departments.
Qualifications & Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience handling raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles including FIFO/FEFO.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
