Ongoing CDD reviews must be conducted periodically to ensure that the CDD information remains up-to-date and relevant for both retail and corporate customers managed by retail branches.

The KYC/CDD maker is responsible for the initial data entry, case initiation, management, and submission within the KYC/CDD framework. This includes ensuring that customer information is accurately captured and processed for due diligence and account opening procedures. Additionally, the KYC/CDD maker must follow up on cases with branches to ensure all cases are submitted before their respective due dates.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate the KYC process by accurately inputting necessary customer profile information.
  • Request and review required documents, assessing associated risks.
  • Follow up with branch staff to obtain outstanding documents.
  • Input data into the AOS system for BCAP screening & approval.
  • Seek approval from the District Head / Department Head, or obtain a recommendation from the Unit Head for Higher Authority approval.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the front line to complete CDD reviews by the due date.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory banking processes.
  • Support the centralized Customer Due Diligence (CDD) function.
  • Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), acting as both a Maker and Checker for periodic reviews and trigger events for retail customers.
  • Prepare and review detailed CDD information, including public search results, in accordance with the Bank’s standards.
  • Ensure AML risk is effectively managed, adhering to global and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy of information and completion of CDD within assigned timeframes.
  • Handling ad-hoc CDD projects.
  • Facilitating regular sharing of updates on requirements and relevant case studies.
  • Advise the Front Office on onboarding requirements, ensuring alignment with the Bank's AML/KYC standards and regulatory requirements, and partner with them to meet the requirements.
  • Review and corroborate KYC information submitted by Relationship Managers (RMs), performing an independent review and risk-rating customers in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Group’s AML/CFT policy and procedures.
  • Follow up with Front Office (RMs & ARMs) and other stakeholders on KYC related matters, especially for escalated or prioritized cases.
  • Assess and ensure the relevance and completeness of KYC information provided by the Front Office, performing appropriate due diligence checks and information searches to comply with bank standards for client onboarding.
  • Highlight deficiencies, suspicious AML activities, or other non-compliance issues to relevant parties and management.
  • Prepare reports for management to facilitate relevant reviews and strengthen control procedures and processes.
  • Train the Front Office on client documentation and KYC related subjects.
  • Coach junior team members and provide guidance in exception handling.
  • Participate in projects related to new processes or industry initiatives, as well as internal and external audits.
  • Keep abreast of global AML/CFT developments that impact due diligence on wealth clients and ensure compliance with all other controls and processes.

Requirements

  • Customer focus, good analytical and logical thinking, responsive and a team player
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate with customers and internal stakeholders effectively
  • Concern for data accuracy and attention to details with good product & process knowledge
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office including Excel
  • Good multi-tasking skills and ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Degree holder in business or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in CDD and/or KYC in retail banking or financial institutions
  • Articulate and proficient in client interactions
  • Conscientious, collaborative, and independent
  • Effective at multi-tasking and able to meet tight timelines
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements pertaining to KYC/AML, e.g., MAS 626.
  • Certifications in AML such as Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or International Association Diploma in Anti Money Laundering would be an advantage.
  • Ability to be client centric while balancing business needs and controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships with Front Office stakeholders.
  • An efficient solutions provider with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, portfolio management and verbal and written presentation skills
  • Good written and verbal communication in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
