The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in NTU invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant Manager for Chair’s Office Central Administration.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening School’s research funding portfolio by supporting funding strategy development, preparing large competitive research grant proposals, and assisting faculty in overseeing research grant expenditure. The appointee will work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) to identify strategic funding opportunities, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and facilitate high-quality submissions to national, industry and international funding programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic funding initiatives to expand School’s research portfolio and align proposals with national and international research priorities.
Identify and evaluate funding opportunities from national agencies, industry partners and international programmes, advising PIs on the alignment with NTU / School strategy and funding criteria.
Drive and coordinate the preparation of large competitive research grant proposals, including drafting technical narratives, consolidating multidisciplinary inputs, and ensuring alignment with funding agency requirements.
Manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including timeline coordination, budget planning and compliance checks.
Collaborate with PIs to refine research concepts, articulate project significance and innovation, and position proposals to maximize funding potential.
Provide advisory support on grant budgeting during proposal development and coordinate with relevant offices on post-award financial matters.
Support faculty in post-award activities, including progress reporting, grant variations and administrative coordination where required.
Support the implementation of School’s research data governance practices as School’s Research Data Governance Manager, advise faculty on compliance with institutional and funder requirements.
Requirements
Advanced Degree (Master’s or PhD) in Science or Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in research development, grant writing, funding strategy or research management, preferably in a university, research institute, or R&D environment.
Familiarity with Singapore research funding landscape (e.g., NRF, MOE, A*STAR) is advantageous.
Experience in preparing large competitive research grant proposals or coordinating multi-investigator submissions.
Excellent technical writing, analytical, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
