Job Summary
The Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production, product quality, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards within the food manufacturing environment. This role includes managing production schedules, optimizing manpower and resources, and leading production teams to achieve operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Oversee daily production shifts to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely operations.
- Monitor production output to meet company productivity and quality targets.
- Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance and technical teams to minimize production downtime.
- Optimize the use of manpower, materials, and equipment to improve efficiency.
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and motivate production staff to maintain high performance standards.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to team members.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to ensure production continuity.
- Manage shift scheduling and manpower allocation effectively.
- Facilitate multiple production shifts when operationally required.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure products meet internal quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with local and international food safety regulations.
- Conduct routine production checks and address quality or safety issues promptly.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and corrective action implementation.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily production reports, shift records, and operational documentation.
- Monitor production KPIs and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, downtime, and corrective actions.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing or production operations.
- Prior supervisory or team-leading experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety systems such as HACCP, FSSC 22000, or BRCGS is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and handle shift operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
Working Hours
Shift-based schedule
Able to work weekends and public holidays when required
