Represents the company on a rig site to support the safe and efficient execution of well plans. Is the primary contact for rig and third-party personnel to ensure logistics for personnel, equipment and services are appropriately organized and managed.

The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations across multiple mining rigs at the site. This role provides frontline leadership to drilling crews, ensuring adherence to safety standards, production targets, and equipment performance expectations within an open-pit oil sands mining environment.
The Supervisor plays a critical role in aligning daily drilling activities with mine plans while driving continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and operational reliability.

Assume responsibility for site leadership and incident control as the senior representative until additional more-senior oversight arrives. (Local source control).
Complete controls checklists to ensure compliance (e.g., Well Control Readiness, Ground Disturbance, etc.).
Supervise rig up and rig down activity whenever possible.
Visit multiple upcoming locations and confirm suitability for the rig long in advance of rig movement.
Responsible for generation of accurate and adequate operations reports by the contractor.
Review and sign off on tour sheets.
Align DDR with Rig Managers then enter all NPT into Wellsite Masters (WSM) NPT tracker.
Provide feedback on deficiencies and action required to Drilling Coordinators.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve drilling efficiency and reduce costs.
Promote innovation in drilling technologies, processes, and best practices.
Approve appropriate work permits (working at heights and energy isolation), if required.
Complete one structured safety observation per day (into KPA).
Meet with Drilling Coordinators daily to receive clarity on current objectives and execution of the twice-daily rig plan.
Ensure all unplanned events are communicated to Drilling Coordinators and that responsible resolves are closed; perhaps use of After-Action Reviews (AAR) (e.g., redrills, lease spills).
Be engaged and present wrt wellbore specifics, fluids, geological aspects, and technical installations.
Ensure resupply is available to the contractors (e.g., required casing, accessories, PVC, LCM products, operating fuel, etc.).
Promote proactive hazard identification and near-miss reporting.
Ensure compliance with PPE requirements, safe work procedures, and critical permit applications.
Maintain real-time engagement with Mapping (ArcGIS) and adhere to the access/construction readiness codes.
Understand and ensure Off-MSL rules; regulations and expectations are followed without exception (e.g., proximity to waterways/water bodies).
Honor and respect license specifics such as clearings, mulching, ROW’s, berming constraints, wildlife/raptor surveys, etc.
Particular understanding and attention to Underground and Overhead Utilities.
Compliance with the site and Camp rules – specific and sensitive subject in their drive to ensure project safety.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
