Job Description:
We are seeking a hands-on and dependable IT Support Specialist to support the organisation’s IT infrastructure, end-user support, and communication systems, including onboard vessel operations.
This role is operational and execution-focused, requiring close coordination with internal users, vessel crew, and external vendors to ensure smooth IT operations across both onshore and offshore environments. The successful candidate will provide technical support, manage IT systems and assets, and ensure reliable connectivity for both office and vessel-based operations.
The position suits an individual who is technically competent, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, including travelling onboard vessels when required.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Support & End-User Services
Provide day-to-day IT support for end users, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
Support user account management, email configuration, and access control (e.g. Active Directory, Office 365).
Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and tracking of IT equipment and assets.
Network, Systems & Infrastructure
Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems, networks, and connectivity.
Monitor system performance and ensure uptime, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure.
Assist in managing LAN/WAN connectivity, VPN access, and basic network troubleshooting.
Perform regular system updates, backups, and preventive maintenance.
Maritime & Onboard Vessel IT Support
Provide IT support onboard vessels, including troubleshooting of hardware, software, and communication systems.
Travel to vessels when required to perform installation, maintenance, and issue resolution.
Support vessel communication systems (e.g. satellite systems and onboard network connectivity).
Ensure stable and secure IT operations in maritime environments with limited or intermittent connectivity.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of onboard IT infrastructure.
Liaise directly with vessel crew to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with external vendors for IT procurement, maintenance, and support services.
Coordinate with service providers on system implementation, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
Support evaluation of IT solutions and ensure cost-effective procurement.
General Responsibilities
Maintain proper documentation of IT systems, configurations, and support logs.
Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
Provide support for IT-related projects, system enhancements, and process improvements.
Undertake ad-hoc assignments as required by Management.
Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of relevant experience in IT support, infrastructure, or network administration.
Experience supporting remote environments or maritime/vessel systems is an added advantage.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking fundamentals, and hardware troubleshooting.
Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA) are an added advantage.
Strong problem-solving skills, technical troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Willingness and ability to travel onboard vessels and work in maritime environments when required.
