Our client, a leading manufacturer of Latex gloves, is now looking for SENIOR SCIENTIST to join their R&D team.

Purpose of Position
- To lead and innovate in new materials, formulation, manufacturing technology in accordance with R&D vision and strategy.
- To drive early innovation exploration, fundamental research and practical feasibility, shaping the future of our products and processes with scientific approach.
- Provide leadership to the technical team to enhance the capabilities of the individuals and the collective team.
- Work closely with Product Development team to understand customer needs and identify target area of technology exploration.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead, plan and organize the resources for early innovation exploration, fundamental research on new concepts or designs, materials and processes based on RD visions and strategy.
- Conduct practical feasibility work in accordance with the requirements of the environmental, occupational health and safety management systems as appropriate.
- Formulate and test hypotheses to address specific scientific assignments, technical challenges and research problems.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for new products or processes.
- Conduct necessary analyses to measure product performance and competitiveness, ensuring compliance with or surpassing industry standards.
- Utilize analytical skill / statistical tools to collect and process data. Evaluate, interpret, report, present research findings to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Collaborate with Product Development team to understand the customer needs and identify target area of technology exploration.
- Participate in the identification and protection of intellectual property through patent applications via appropriate channel such as invention portal and MHC IP office.
- Stay abreast with the latest advancements in latex/rubber/glove trend and technologies by regularly reviewing relevant patent, scientific literature, technical report and attending conferences/exhibition. Assessing the potential benefits and applications of emerging technologies in the manufacturing process.
- Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, seminars and relevant training to expand knowledge and skills in the relevant areas.
- Conduct technical scouting for target technology exploration.
- Identify potential partnership opportunities with external research institutes or organizations to achieve research objectives and foster innovation.
- Lead and drive innovation sessions to review the potential ideas and opportunities from patents, scientific literatures, technical reports, etc.
- Maintain work ethic to keep confidential all information/data, results generated or created, work activities acquired or given pertaining to the work and services to the customers, including proprietary rights of the customers.
- Avoid involvement in any activities that could diminish confidence in the competence, impartiality or operational integrity of the R&D laboratory.

- Take the potential materials, processes, opportunities to next level of business gate review or further feasibility studies at production scale.
- Technical assessment for the readiness of a new product / process at different project phase or business gates

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemistry, Engineering (Chemical), or a related field. Master or higher degree cis preferred.
- At least 7 years’ experience as Scientist or equivalent level in Research and Development
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present technical data, findings and recommendations
- Ability to interpret data / observations and propose creative solutions to problems
- Ability to develop and present new ideas, concepts, approaches and solutions.
- Experience in sustainability research initiatives can be beneficial.
- Knowledge of relevant quality systems, e.g. ISO 13485, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 17025, FDA QSR, MDSAP etc.
