The Data Center (DC) Operations Engineer designs, administers, and supports enterprise workload automation platforms, batch processing environments such as SAP and file transfers, as well as enterprise monitoring, backup, and recovery operations.
The role ensures the secure, reliable, and compliant execution of business-critical batch workloads,
supporting IT Operations and application teams in a 24x7 production environment.
What You’ll Do:
Operations and Production Support
- Oversee daily batch operations to meet SLAs and maintain efficiency
- Configure, schedule, and maintain batch jobs and workflows in AWA and SAP
- Support production batch runs, ad hoc jobs, manual catch-up and recovery activities
- Work with application teams on job onboarding, testing, validation and deployment
- Investigate batch failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions
- Support Data Center Operations in controlled batch execution and escalation management
- Support in manual deployment of approved changes and transport to production
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks in line with operational and audit requirements
- Support High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Business Continuity (BCP) readiness, including planning and execution of exercises
- Ensure compliance with audit, regulatory, IT security, and access governance requirements
- Perform periodic access reviews, configuration checks, and audit validations
- Support enterprise monitoring, backup, and restoration operations
Batch/Workload Automation Engineering & Administration
- Design, build, and maintain AWA components
- Implement modular, reusable, and standards-compliant workflows aligned with enterprise best practices
- Perform code promotion and transport management across DEV/UAT/PROD
- Monitor AWA platform health, performance, and job throughput
- Provide technical advisory to projects and/or users on batch automation design patterns and governance standards
- Administer the AWA platform, including components, agents, and user access
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Automic Workload Automation (AWA)
Working knowledge of:
- SAP batch scheduling
- OS platforms: Unix/Linux and/or Windows
- Scripting (Shell, PowerShell, or equivalent)
- Backup and Restoration tool (e.g., Veritas NetBackup)
Solid understanding of:
- Batch processing concepts (dependencies, triggers, calendars, SLA management)
- File transfer workflows (e.g., MFT, FTP/SFTP)
Experience with:
- Production support and incident management tools
- Monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., DX UIM, DataDog or Splunk)
Operations & Governance
- Experience in ITIL-based operations (Incident, Problem, Change management)
Familiarity with:
- Audit, compliance, and regulatory environments
- Access control and privileged account governance
- Knowledge of: HA/DR architectures and BCP execution
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years’ experience in enterprise workload automation / batch operations
- Proven experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical batch environments
- Exposure to regulated industries (e.g., utilities, banking, energy) preferred
- Experience with Continuous Delivery Automation (CDA) pipelines is an advantage
- Willingness to support 24x7 operations and on-call rotation
