Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AS400 Support Engineer to provide application support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for enterprise banking and business-critical systems running on IBM AS400 (IBM i) environments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in COBOL, RPG, CL, DB2, and batch job processing, along with hands-on experience in production support, incident management, and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 application support for AS400 (IBM i) systems and business applications
- Monitor and support batch jobs, interfaces, and system processes to ensure smooth daily operations
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within SLA timelines
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions for recurring issues
- Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL, RPG IV, and CL programs based on business requirements
- Work with DB2 SQL for data extraction, analysis, and issue resolution
- Support deployment and release activities using change management tools such as Aldon
- Coordinate with business users, development teams, infrastructure teams, and external vendors for issue resolution and system improvements
- Prepare technical documentation, support manuals, and operational procedures
- Participate in system testing, deployment validation, and post-release monitoring
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security standards, and operational procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in AS400 / IBM i application support and development
- Strong knowledge of COBOL, RPG IV, CL, and DB2 SQL
- Hands-on experience with batch job monitoring and troubleshooting
- Experience in production support, incident management, and problem management
- Familiarity with change management and deployment tools such as Aldon
- Good understanding of application support processes and SDLC
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production support environment
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to banking or financial services applications
- Knowledge of TAMIC online and batch processing
- Experience with API integrations, XML, JSON, and HTTP interfaces
- Basic understanding of middleware technologies and IBM MQ
- Exposure to mainframe environments and legacy systems
