Job Summary:
The IT Specialist is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and efficient operation of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. This role includes providing technical support internally and on customer sites, managing IT infrastructure, resolving technical issues, and ensuring seamless daily IT operations. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, proactive, and adaptable to both office-based and field support work.
Job Description:
1. IT Operations & Technical Support
- Provide end-user and infrastructure support for desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, system, and network issues to minimize downtime.
- Offer remote and on-site support as needed, including customer locations.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and system health checks.
2. Infrastructure & Network Management
- Maintain and support servers, network devices, and security systems.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, switches, and wireless networks.
- Monitor network performance and support infrastructure improvement projects.
3. Systems Administration
- Administer Windows environments, including user management, patching, and endpoint protection.
- Support Linux (Ubuntu) servers through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Manage Active Directory, access control, and system policies to meet security standards.
4. Cybersecurity & Monitoring
- Monitor systems for security threats and abnormal activities.
- Assist with vulnerability assessments and implement security improvements.
- Apply security controls such as antivirus, MFA, patching, and access restrictions.
- Support incident investigation and corrective actions.
5. Cloud & Backup Management
- Support cloud infrastructure and virtual servers.
- Maintain backup systems, perform restoration testing, and support disaster recovery planning.
6. Documentation & Team Collaboration
- Maintain IT asset inventory and technical documentation.
- Prepare reports on incidents, maintenance, and improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external customers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure, or system administration.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting, infrastructure support, and network management.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Windows OS and endpoint security management
- Network security, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and managed switches
- Ubuntu Server administration and maintenance
- Cloud server management
- Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including vulnerability management and incident response.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple IT responsibilities effectively.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
