Mechatronics Engineer (Hong Kong)

FLYFARM SYSTEMS is an agri-tech start-up on a mission to build the best robotised insect farming system worldwide.

We are currently seeking a talented and fast working Mechatronics Engineer to join our Tech Team in Hong Kong – to help develop our vertical insect farming system platform of in-house designed robotics, automation, IoT sensor layers & control system software. Job Overview

As Mechatronics/Software Engineer you will work within a small, highly motivated team in a fast paced start-up environment, writing Arduino and Python code that controls the Robotics and automation machines of the vertical farming system.

What we are looking for?

• Write Arduino code to control movement of Robotics and Automation hardware
• Write Arduino code to retrieve data from IoT environmental sensors and cameras
• Write Python code to retrieve data from the database, and store data
• Assist in the development of new in house designed Robotics
• Carry out movement tests and simulations on test set up hardware in the office
• Support the implementation of software with the Farm Operations team in Brisbane
• Identify new opportunities for automation within the production process
• Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
• Rapidly troubleshoot automated processes or equipment when errors occur

You’ll need these minimum skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 1-2 years work experience
• Arduino ESSENTIAL
• Python ESSENTIAL
• Coding IDEs ESSENTIAL
• Familiarity with software development tools such as Gitlab, preferred coding IDEs
• Experience with testing and validating Software and Hardware
• Good English required as the team is international
