We are partnering with a leading global financial services firm that is looking to hire an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage a mission-critical multi-platform database environment across APAC and EMEA regions.
Based in Singapore and reporting to the DBA Manager in London, this role will play a key part in ensuring the resilience, performance, availability, and operational integrity of the organisation’s database estate. The successful candidate will work within a globally distributed DBA team supporting Development, UAT, and Production environments in a fast-paced 24/7 setting.
A major focus of the role will be Oracle performance tuning, high availability architecture, operational support, automation, and lifecycle management across enterprise database platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Oracle Exadata Cloud Service on Dedicated Infrastructure within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Configure, maintain, and optimise databases supporting critical operational and trading systems
- Perform database patching, upgrades, maintenance, and security hardening aligned with internal governance and regulatory standards
- Provide L2/L3 production support, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation for database-related incidents
- Drive Oracle database performance tuning initiatives including:
- AWR / ASH / ADDM analysis
- Optimizer behaviour analysis
- Execution path optimisation
- Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN
- Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and application support teams across APAC and EMEA
- Contribute to database monitoring, observability, and automation initiatives
- Support and maintain additional database technologies including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL where required
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and architectural artefacts
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, change management processes, and SOX compliance requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as an Oracle DBA within mission-critical production environments
- Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture
- Deep understanding of Oracle performance tuning and diagnostics
- Experience with backup/recovery, failover, patching, upgrades, and database lifecycle management
- Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience
- Experience working within regulated environments with exposure to risk and compliance controls
- Comfortable operating within a global “follow-the-sun” support model
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across global teams
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to OCI database services and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure capabilities
- Experience across multiple database platforms such as:
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure tooling such as:
- Exposure to cloud platforms including OCI, AWS, or Azure
- Prior experience within financial services, trading, or other high availability / low latency environments is highly advantageous
