Job Summary

We are seeking an Elastic Stack Engineer / Observability Engineer with hands-on experience in administering and supporting Elasticsearch environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing the Elastic Stack ecosystem, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and Elastic Agent, to support enterprise logging, monitoring, observability, and analytics initiatives.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture, search queries, data pipelines, and troubleshooting, as well as experience with Linux administration, SSL/TLS configurations, and monitoring technologies such as Elastic APM and OpenTelemetry. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to ensure reliable data ingestion, visualization, and system performance across distributed environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Elasticsearch clusters, including architecture configuration, node roles, sharding, and data tier management.
• Install, configure, and support Elasticsearch v8.x environments and related Elastic Stack components such as Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and Elastic Agent.
• Develop and optimize Elasticsearch queries using Query DSL, KQL, and ES|QL for data analysis and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain Kibana dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions using Kibana Lens and Vega where applicable.
• Configure and manage Logstash pipelines and data ingestion workflows for structured and unstructured data sources.
• Support observability and monitoring initiatives using Elastic APM, OpenTelemetry, and related monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, data ingestion, indexing, and cluster performance.
• Configure and maintain SSL/TLS security settings and ensure secure communication across Elastic Stack components.
• Perform Linux system administration tasks related to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of Elastic Stack environments.
• Integrate various data sources and protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, SMTP, LDAP/Active Directory, SAML, and AWS services including CloudWatch, S3, and SQS where applicable.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support monitoring, logging, and operational analytics requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, automation, and operational best practices to enhance system reliability and observability capabilities.

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience administering the Elastic Stack.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch fundamentals: architecture, sharding, data tiers, and node roles.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch installation and setup (at least on v8.x)
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch search query (Query DSL, KQL, ES|QL)
• Familiarity with Elastic APM, OpenTelemetry, or APM (in general)
• Familiarity with various protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, SMTP, LDAP/Active Directory, SAML, etc) [Bonus points if familiar with AWS data sources e.g. Cloudwatch, S3/SQS, etc.].
• Knowledgeable in creating Kibana visualizations and dashboards using Kibana Lens. (Bonus points for Vega chart familiarity)
• Knowledgeable in Elastic data shippers: Elastic Agent, Beats (e.g. Filebeat, Metricbeat), Logstash
• Knowledgeable in writing Logstash pipelines.
• Knowledgeable in basic troubleshooting of Elasticsearch and related components (e.g. Kibana, Logstash, etc).
• Knowledgeable in basic Linux system administration.
• Knowledgeable in setting up SSL/TLS configurations.

Pay: $7,500.00 - $8,500.00 per month
