ROLE SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager, Sales & Business Development is responsible for supporting the Company’s revenue growth through business development strategy, market expansion, sales execution, and product commercialisation. You are expected to identify new business opportunities, build relationships with potential clients, develop go-to-market initiatives, support sales planning, and actively participate in field sales activities. This role requires an experienced and hands-on sales professional who can strategise, sell, guide the team, gather market feedback, and translate business opportunities into measurable sales outcomes.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Business Development Strategy & Market Expansion
- Identify, assess, and develop new business opportunities across relevant healthcare, medical, wellness, corporate, institutional, and consumer market segments.
- Develop practical business development plans, sales routes, target segments, prospect lists, and market entry approaches for assigned products and services.
- Conduct market mapping and competitor review to determine product positioning, customer needs, pricing considerations, and potential sales channels.
- Recommend suitable go-to-market strategies to Management based on product potential, market feedback, customer behaviour, and commercial viability.
- Support the expansion of the Company’s sales network through strategic partnerships, referrals, agents, events, and direct client engagement.
B. Sales Execution & Revenue Generation
- Actively participate in sales activities including prospecting, client visits, product presentations, proposal discussions, negotiation, follow-up, and sales closure.
- Drive sales for assigned products, including medical, healthcare, wellness, sterilisation, or other business development-related product lines determined by Management.
- Convert business development plans into actual sales activities, ensuring that strategy is supported by ground-level execution and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline with clear tracking of prospects, appointments, proposals, conversion status, and revenue potential.
- Achieve agreed revenue, sales activity, and business development targets as determined by Management.
C. Product Commercialisation & Market Feedback
- Understand the Company’s product portfolio and translate product features into customer-focused value propositions.
- Work with internal stakeholders to gather product information, operational feedback, customer issues, and field insights for improvement of sales positioning.
- Provide Management with practical feedback on customer acceptance, objections, product readiness, competitor comparison, and opportunities for product bundling or repositioning.
- Support the development of product presentation materials, sales scripts, frequently asked questions, and customer-facing communication points.
- Ensure all sales messages and product explanations remain accurate, professional, and aligned with approved Company communication.
D. Team Coordination & Sales Enablement
- Guide and support sales executives, product specialists, and relevant internal personnel in understanding sales direction, customer priorities, and product positioning.
- Coordinate weekly sales activities, customer appointments, market visits, and follow-up actions with relevant team members.
- Support the coaching of team members in basic sales approach, customer communication, product explanation, and follow-through discipline.
- Work closely with Management and the internal team to align sales priorities, marketing efforts, customer engagement activities, and operational support.
- Promote a proactive sales culture where relevant team members are able to identify and communicate business opportunities during customer interaction.
E. Reporting, Planning & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare regular business development updates covering sales pipeline, target progress, market feedback, customer engagement, and key action plans.
- Maintain proper records of client meetings, proposals, follow-ups, commercial discussions, and agreed next steps.
- Analyses sales performance and recommend corrective actions where progress is below target or where opportunities require further support.
- Represent the Company professionally during external meetings, client engagements, events, and business discussions.
- Carry out any other sales, marketing, or business development-related tasks assigned by Management from time to time.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Medical Science, Healthcare Management, Biomedical Science, Sports Science, or any related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of working experience in sales, business development, product marketing, healthcare sales, medical-related sales, wellness products, or related commercial roles.
- Proven track record in generating leads, developing business opportunities, conducting client presentations, and achieving sales or revenue targets.
- Experience in medical, healthcare, wellness, physiotherapy, fitness, sterilisation, or product-based sales will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of business development processes, including market research, prospecting, client engagement, proposal discussion, negotiation, and sales closure.
- Able to balance strategic planning with hands-on selling and ground-level customer engagement.
- Good analytical, reporting, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate business insights clearly to Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English; ability to communicate in additional languages will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with clients, internal stakeholders, and external business partners.
- Hands-on and field-oriented, with willingness to attend client meetings, market visits, events, and product presentations.
- Able to guide others, coordinate sales activities, and support team members in improving their sales approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple sales opportunities, follow-ups, and reporting deadlines.
- Own transport and willing to travel.
- Able to start within a reasonable notice period.
