Power Query Expert

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Query Expert to support data transformation, reporting, and migration initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Power Query, Excel, and Power BI, with the ability to manage large datasets, optimize query performance, and ensure high data quality standards.

You will work closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to prepare, transform, and validate data for reporting, analytics, UAT, and system migration activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Transformation & ETL

• Build, optimize, and maintain Power Query workflows for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
• Clean, standardize, and validate data from multiple data sources including Excel, CSV files, databases, and SharePoint
• Merge, append, and transform datasets to support reporting and migration readiness

Reporting & Data Preparation

• Support data preparation activities for reporting, dashboards, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Work with Power BI and Excel-based reporting solutions
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and datasets

Query Optimization & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot existing Power Query issues and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Optimize query efficiency for handling large and complex datasets
• Improve maintainability and scalability of data transformation processes

Documentation & Collaboration

• Document query logic, transformation rules, and data workflows
• Ensure solutions are reusable, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and project objectives

Requirements:

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Power Query in Excel and/or Power BI
• Solid understanding of ETL processes, data transformation, and data quality principles
• Experience handling and optimizing large datasets
• Good knowledge of M Language for advanced Power Query transformations
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills including:
• Pivot Tables
• Advanced formulas
• Data modeling
• Data analysis techniques
