Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Java Developer based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. The role involves end-to-end software development designing, building and maintaining high-performance applications using Java within a microservices architecture. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, UI/UX designers and backend engineers to deliver clean, scalable and efficient software solutions that serve a global B2B client base across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based applications and backend services
• Build and optimize microservices architecture for scalability and performance
• Integrate APIs and third-party services into existing platform infrastructure
• Work within an Agile development environment with fast-moving release cycles
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure seamless front-end and back-end integration
• Write clean, well-documented and maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues efficiently
• Support platform deployment, monitoring and performance optimization
• Liaise occasionally with China-based and overseas technical teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in Java software development
• Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
• Solid experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and ability to incorporate them into software design
• Familiarity with containerization tools Docker and Kubernetes (K8S) is an advantage
• Experience with version control (Git) and Agile development workflows
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Able to communicate in Mandarin (spoken) for occasional liaison with China-based teams

Preferred/ Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Web3 technologies, blockchain and decentralized applications (dApp)
• Familiarity with EtherJS, Hardhat or smart contract development
• Experience with enterprise-grade security and compliance protocols
• Exposure to cloud platforms AWS, GCP or Azure
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Background in fintech, SaaS or high-traffic B2B platform environments
