- Responsible for transitioning products from design into manufacturing.
- Responsible for overseeing prototyping process and or executing tooling and obtaining First Article (FA) Approval.
- Main PIC for detailed customer communication regarding to product, spec/drawing changes, attending to concerns.
- Responsible to fully understand customer specifications and verifying the same in finished product.
- Responsible for communicating requirements, recommendations and limitations to the customer.
- Work closely with QA to achieve FA submission approval.
- Identify and propose the relevant manufacturing processes & develop working method for new project.
- Relevant knowledge of casting process – key parameters, and related technical capability & limitations.
- Relevant knowledge of CNC machining – milling & turning processes.
- Produce Design for Manufacture Analysis (DFM) at initial stages of product study.
- Identify, propose and defend requests for change eg. Increased tolerances, removal of features.
- Lead and champion a team of process engineers to execute and deliver customer samples.
- Closely consult relevant process leaders (eg. Casting, machining) to get manufacturing process info. Eg. Estimated cycle time, special cutting tools required, tooling lead time and lifespan.
- Establish Gantt Chart (or similar) timeline tracking method, and execute overall project introduction on time.
- Observe & report trial shot and trial machining processes.
- Interact and work closely with customer in process audit, attend to customer concern and respond to customer queries.
- Check the quality of the product and identifying the error or faults against DFM and specification.
- Interact and work closely with FA and QA to analyze and qualify new material or process.
- Developing QA check sheet.
- Coordinate with tool makers in tool fabrication, modification, schedule and related matters.
- Initiate mold & jig design with vendors.
- Review design for feasibility, usability & cost/budget control.
- Verify tooling usage for handover to production – eg. Checking machining jig functions per design intent.
- Documentation of new project such as Control Plan, FMEA, Process Flow, Checklist, and WI, FA Submission report such as ISIR and numbered drawing.
Job Requirement
- Diploma, Adv/Higher/Grad/Post Grad Diploma/Bachelor/Professional Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering or other related field.
- Minimum 2 years experience in related field
- Competent user of CAD software (Solidworks)
- Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Confident communicator
- Strong sense of self initiative
- Strong coordinating skills to organize internal NPI activites
