We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join our growing KJS Group, supporting operations across our portfolio of companies. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will oversee all core HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, payroll administration, and compliance, serving a diverse workforce of approximately 100+ employees across multiple locations (Johor Bahru, Sarawak, Sabah, and Indonesia). This role combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on operational management, ideal for someone who thrives in a growing, dynamic business environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Plan and execute recruitment campaigns for various roles across engineering, construction, operations, and administrative teams
  • Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, agencies, and networking; manage the entire recruitment pipeline from job posting to offer letter
  • Conduct interviews, coordinate with hiring managers, and facilitate onboarding of new hires
  • Maintain positive employer brand and develop relationships with training institutions and recruitment partners in the region
Employee Relations & HR Support
  • Handle day-to-day employee inquiries, grievances, and disputes; mediate conflicts professionally and fairly
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure smooth processing of leave, transfers, and separation procedures
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyse turnover trends to improve retention
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees on HR policies, benefits, and career development
Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
  • Coordinate monthly payroll administration with external payroll service provider; ensure accuracy and timely processing
  • Manage EPF, EIS, SOCSO, and income tax submissions and compliance
  • Administer employee benefits (medical insurance, group coverage); handle claims and liaise with insurers
  • Conduct market salary reviews and provide recommendations to management for competitive compensation
Performance Management & Training
  • Support annual performance review cycles; collect feedback, coordinate appraisals, and maintain performance records
  • Identify training needs across teams; arrange technical, safety, and professional development programs
  • Maintain training records and track participation and outcomes


Compliance & Legal Requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment law, including Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and OSHA 1994
  • Monitor legislative changes and updates; communicate policy changes to employees and management
  • Maintain statutory records, employment contracts, and documentation in accordance with legal requirements
  • Prepare statutory reports and returns (e.g. government submissions for work permits, safety incidents)
HR Administration & Policies
  • Develop and maintain employee handbook and HR policies covering code of conduct, leave, dress code, disciplinary procedures, etc.
  • Manage HR information systems and employee records; ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Track HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, overtime trends) and report to management
Site & Multi-Location Management
  • Support HR operations across multiple locations (Johor Bahru HQ, Sarawak, Sabah, and Indonesia offices); coordinate with site managers on HR matters
  • Facilitate communication and consistency in HR practices across all locations


Person SpecificationExperience & Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a full-cycle HR management role
  • Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or operations environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment law and payroll/benefits administration
  • Experience working in multi-location or regional role (an advantage)
  • Diploma or Degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Recruitment & talent management: ability to attract, assess, and onboard quality talent
  • Payroll & compliance: hands-on experience with payroll systems, EPF/EIS, statutory compliance
  • Employee relations: strong interpersonal skills, fairness, and ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially
  • Organization & process management: detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple processes and deadlines
  • Communication: clear written and verbal communication; ability to liaise with management, employees, and external parties (e.g. insurers, payroll vendors)
  • Problem-solving: pragmatic approach to resolving HR issues and improving processes
  • Proficiency with HR software, payroll systems, and MS Office; experience with HRIS systems an advantage
