Responsibilities
Determine HVAC system type to be used and provide input as needed during basic design phase.
Design and size ductwork for living quarters and machinery space, cold room system and chilled water piping system.
Review all HVAC equipment, vendor’s proposals for technical accuracy and constructability. Understand sizing of equipment and prepare equipment specification.
Prepare working drawings, establishing design criteria standards specification and HVAC construction guideline drawings.
Check submittals and prepare the installation or construction drawings when needed.
Perform site visits to solve the engineering problems when required to determine existing conditions or verify new construction.
Determine HVAC load calculations and select equipment.
Coordinate work and integration with other engineering disciplines.
Coordinate / execute contract specification requirements and production inputs into engineering drawing / document.
Provide progress reporting and schedule management of engineering deliverables.
Coordinate with other production team members, subcontractors and consultants to resolve technical issues onsite which affect HVAC schedule and project deliverables.
Meet with vendors, client reps, accreditation representatives when required.
Review and reply to class comments.
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Ensure compliance to relevant government regulations and company’s quality, safety, health and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices and procedures at all times.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working in a marine/offshore industry or marine equipment manufacturer and a Diploma in mechanical, HVAC or marine or related engineering discipline or minimum 6 years working in a marine/offshore industry.
Prior experience in newbuild and conversion of AHTS.
Familiarity with Marine & Offshore rules, regulations and requirements.
Knowledge of Intergraph Software will be an added advantage.
Good communication skills, meticulous, resourceful, able to multi-task.
A team player with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Able to perform heat load calculations, air ventilation balancing.
Familiar with Marine & Offshore rules and regulations and HVAC code requirements.
