Job Summary

• Position: Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation and deliverables lists to ensure accurate tracking and reporting to senior project leadership
• Design and develop mechanical systems and products that meet client and industry requirements while ensuring compliance with relevant specifications, standards, and regulations
• Analyze mechanical systems to identify opportunities for performance improvements and develop innovative engineering solutions
• Conduct research, experiments, and performance analyses to validate design effectiveness and reliability
• Perform engineering calculations using first principles and finite element analysis (FEA) methods to support design decisions
• Apply detailed knowledge of marine engineering principles and industry standards to all project tasks
• Utilize specialized subsea technology expertise to enhance engineering outcomes
• Use design software such as CAD, FEA, and CFO to create, simulate, and optimize mechanical designs
• Operate and apply knowledge of fabrication equipment including ROVs, sonar, and underwater laser scanners to translate designs into physical products
• Apply principles of propulsion to design systems that are efficient and safe for marine environments
• Perform finite element analysis to assess the strength and durability of marine equipment under operational conditions
• Evaluate material properties, including corrosion resistance, to select appropriate materials for marine applications
• Work independently or collaboratively within project teams to ensure delivery aligns with client contract requirements
• Lead and participate in project meetings and conduct onsite inspections as necessary to monitor progress and compliance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and DIMENSION members on operational and specialist engineering matters
• Coordinate with consultants, authorities, customers, and clients to ensure architectural and design plans conform to regulatory and project standards
• Execute qualification work following established procedures to validate project deliverables
• Engage actively in project teams and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project outcomes
• Monitor and resolve outstanding client issues to maintain project momentum and client satisfaction
• Produce detailed CAD drawings of approved designs for bidding and permitting purposes

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Hold an Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Knowledge and/or experience in the marine industry
• Proficiency in FEMAP, Nastran, Staad, SolidWorks, Ansys, Abaqus, AutoCAD, and Excel
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing technologies
• Ability to select and apply standard guides, methods, and techniques
• Ability to manage contracts from proposals through execution and closure
• Understanding of bidding and tendering activities
• Knowledge of industry standards and codes with the ability to apply standards to structural and operational documentation
• Spatial awareness with the ability to analyze technical solutions effectively
• Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices, including design, systems design, installation, and mathematics
• Strong communication skills with good command of written and spoken English
