Purpose Statement: The collaboration between material sourcing and product development is critical to Plexus’ goal of Customer Service Excellence. The Product Development Sourcing Specialist (PDSS) role is a key bridge between the engineering and materials functions. The PDSS will work in support of Product Development Sourcing Managers to collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure on time and on budget design projects. Managing this important collaboration early in the product development process will lead to favorable cost management and a smooth transition during the Commercialization phase of the Plexus Product Realization Value Stream.
Key Job Accountabilities
Supports unit cost management through all phases of the project to ensure that costs remain on target. Provides updates on unit cost trends to both the internal Plexus team and the customer.
Manages sourcing activities while collaborating with commodity managers/specialists and engineering to ensure that suppliers selected align with the Plexus commodity strategies. Reviews and provides feedback on suppliers not already in the Plexus preferred supplier list.
Provides direction to project team members on lead time needs as it relates to part procurement to ensure parts arrive on-time to support product builds.
Facilitate effective supplier involvement in design for manufacturability efforts and design revision proposals. Provide inputs to aid collaboration between suppliers, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to support on-time and successful completion of tooling, product build and qualification.
Education/Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Experience in developing systems and procedures
Experience in development & testing, product development procedures & concepts like Benchmarking, Reverse Engineering
Proven negotiation and project management skills
Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization
Strong data analysis and Decision-making capabilities
Continuous improvement mindset
Physical Requirements
Professional office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and low noise level. May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment. Minimal physical activity is generally involved, emphasizing the importance of good posture and ergonomic workplace arrangements.
