What The Role Is
You will provide consultant-level psychiatric care to Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) servicemen at the Psychological Care Centre, offering clinical expertise to shape SAF psychiatry policies and contributing to mental health education across the organisation.
What You Will Be Working On
- Provide consultant-level expertise on the clinical management of psychiatric cases and advise on psychiatry matters within the SAF
- Conduct psychiatric assessments (including forensic assessments), deliver treatment and pharmacotherapy, and make medical recommendations
- Supervise Psychiatry Medical Officers, reviewing and approving their psychiatric assessments, prescriptions and medical recommendations
- Educate Medical Officers, commanders and servicemen on psychiatry and mental health
- Assist in the day-to-day running of the Psychological Care Centre
- Participate in projects and events organised by the Mental Health Office
Challenge(s) - Providing psychiatric care whilst maintaining impartiality and fairness in medical grading
- Collaborating closely with servicemen's units and allied health professionals to provide holistic, well-coordinated care
- Balancing individual patient needs with organisational and national interests when performing psychiatric duties
What We Are Looking For
- Education in Psychiatry or Medicine
- Accredited with the Specialist Advisory Board
- At least 15 years of prior relevant experience in psychiatry
- Strong clinical competency in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and pharmacotherapy, including forensic psychiatric assessments
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions with diverse stakeholders
