Job Description

Requirements

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in kitchen operations, preferably in hospital catering, healthcare food service, or high-volume food production environment.

  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HALAL requirements.

  • Knowledge of patient diets and special dietary requirements is an added advantage.

  • Able to communicate effectively in Bahasa Melayu and English.

Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production requirements, ensuring high-quality meals that support patients’ nutritional needs and recovery during their hospital stay.

  • Food Safety, Handling and Presentation: Ensure all food items are prepared, handled, stored, and presented in accordance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.

  • Portion Control and Temperature Monitoring: Monitor portion sizes and serving temperatures to ensure consistency, meet patients’ dietary requirements, and maintain food safety standards.

  • High Volume Production and Service: Manage food preparation and service during peak periods while ensuring timely delivery of meals without compromising quality.

  • Production Area Supervision: Act as the lead person in the production area by coordinating daily kitchen activities, assigning tasks, and ensuring smooth workflow among kitchen team members.

  • Patient Diet Knowledge: Understand various patient diets, dietary restrictions, allergies, and special meal requirements to ensure meals are prepared according to prescribed dietary guidelines.

  • Staff Coaching and Guidance: Provide guidance and coaching to food service and production staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety practices, and operational standards.

  • Patient Meal Planning and Waste Control: Monitor patient meal quantities to ensure efficient production planning, minimize food wastage, and optimize kitchen resources.
